Journey-planner site Omio compared 100 popular travel spots all over Europe, ranking them according to factors including drink prices and the number of free attractions. And the two places in the UK made the top ten: Edinburgh and Cambridge.

In Cambridge, you could get dinner for two for £43, a beer for £4.37 and a 24-hour travel pass for £6.95, achieving an overall score of 67.8 and landing itself in seventh place.
