How I found out that these were key glamping essentials!
Imagine arriving at a luxury glamping cabin in the woods (with a bag full of wine!) only to find it didn’t have a bottle opener!
After years of trial and error I have finally figured out what the key glamping essentials are. Packing for a glamping trip can be tough because it’s not like staying in a hotel but you don’t need to pack everything (including the kitchen sink!) like you would for a camping trip.
I’ve made every glamping mistake under the sun, so I’m here today to share my glamping essentials and why I think you need them. Camping Duvet Essential by Monica Stott
First things first, do check with your glamping provider about what will be included. Some glamping sites provide everything from fridges and freezers to champagne glasses and luxury toiletries. Some sites supply little more than a tent and an airbed. You’ll usually be emailed a list of what will be included so read it carefully!
I once arrived at a glamping hut deep in the forest to find it didn’t have a bottle opener! I’d trekked through the trees with a bag full of wine for 20 minutes to find I couldn’t drink a single drop of it!
You’ll also need to check the towel and bedding situation as many sites don’t provide these. There’s few things worse than arriving to find you’ve got no towel! I’ve done this before and ended up using a tea towel for the duration of my stay! But leave the sleeping bags and trekking towels at home. You’re glamping here, you need some luxury so bring your duvet and pillows and a big, fluffy towel!
You’ll also need flip-flops or slip-on sandals . When you’re glamping you’ll often have shared bathrooms. Communal showers in the middle of a field can only mean one thing - MUD! Mud, mud, and lots of mud and grass clippings. So you’re not going to want to get into that shower with bare feet. You may also want to bring wellies for any late-night walks across the wet grass.
If you’re hoping for a magical, romantic atmosphere while you’re glamping then I highly recommend packing lots of scented candles. Light them inside (if it’s safe and allowed to do so) and outside while you’re eating dinner under the stars. Crabmill Collection candles are incredible and perfect for those hazy summer evening scents.
A cosy blanket is another glamping essential so you can sit outside for as long as possible. I love the Night Owl Sherpa Fleece Camping Blanket for nights outdoors! You might also want it for an extra blanket in bed if it gets the temperature does drop a bit.
Most glamping sites allow fire pits and the highlight of the day is gathering around the fire at night while wrapped up in blankets and swapping stories about that day’s adventures. Don’t forget to pack marshmallows and kebab sticks to toast them on the flames!

My final glamping essential is an unusual one but a great one if you’re glamping in a group and you have access to electricity; I highly recommend packing a slow cooker! Simply throw your ingredients into the slow cooker in the morning, head out for an adventure and come back to a delicious curry or chilli, maybe a casserole, a whole chicken or pulled pork! It’s so easy and just what you need after a full day outdoors, whether you’ve been hiking or surfing or wild swimming in a lake!
I hope you have a fab trip!
