Beautiful UK locations that could easily be mistaken for being abroad! Now that travel has finally opened back up to us (woohoo!), I think we are definitely all feeling the urge to book a nice getaway!
There seems to be an increase in the popularity of UK staycations following lockdown and asides from the obvious, it's easy to see why. It's kinder on our bank balances, we often have gorgeous sunshine between June to September AND we are lucky enough to have so many places here in the UK that look and feel like they could easily be abroad!
It’s all well and good getting on a plane but we definitely should take advantage of the beautiful places in the UK that require no passport but still give us abroad vibes! Below I've shared 10 UK places that I've visited before with my family that have made us feel like we were overseas despite being here in Britain!

1. This beautiful UK beach is our family favourite - with miles of golden, soft sand and water that glistens in the sunshine you would easily think you were somewhere abroad!
2. This UK spot is actually a National Trust location, but which one?
3. Views for days! This scenic, immaculate location is a very popular UK vacation destination. It's known for its beautiful lakes and rugged mountains and of course, the stunning views wherever you look!
4. This sky high location is very central to the UK and is actually FREE to visit! The views are spectacular and you can get amazing cocktails up there! The green 'garden' that surrounds you combined with the views definitely gave me holiday vibes!
5. This picturesque town is so beautiful that it was chosen as a filming location when a very famous UK TV show was filmed here. Everywhere you turn are idyllic views and it has lovely quaint streets with family-run shops and cafes.
6. Not too far from the above location is this beautiful port. It's a great place to have a wander around and grab a bite to eat, a drink or an ice cream in the sunshine. Here, you'll be convinced you really could be abroad!
7. This charming and pretty castle is actually here in the UK! It was actually the childhood home of a former Queen, but who? You can stay overnight and get lost in the romance of the castle and the beautiful grounds. Just don't lose your head when you see how beautiful it is in real life!
8. This backdrop still takes my breath away! I know what you're thinking.. this one was definitely taken abroad, but no! This UK location is a port city on England's South Coast, but where? Here's a clue - a very famous ship departed not too from far here in 1912!
9. This is one of the most iconic beaches in Wales (huge clue!) but you could easily be mistaken into thinking it was somewhere abroad. Just look at those pretty multi-coloured buildings behind!
10. You don't need to travel to France to get your fix of French architecture! The architecture of this magnificent building here in the UK was designed in the style of French Renaissance châteaux. It is one of the most impressive places to visit and the gardens are just as beautiful! But where is it? Here's a clue - it's one of the National Trust's most visited properties!
