Had enough of music festivals this summer? Why not try a weekend festival where music isn’t top priority. Try a weekend of food and drink, air shows, folk fair, or literary fest this August to detox that music festival rut:

Foodies Festival Edinburgh

2nd – 4th August

Join Edinburgh for all things food this August. With guests Matty Edgell (Winner of The Great British Bake Off 2023) and Gary Maclean (MasterChef: The Professionals Champion) you’ll be in good hands. Try samples of delicious food, watch demonstrations, listen to talks, and try your hand at baking in a workshop, there is plenty to do for those who love to eat well!

Edinburgh Book Festival

10th – 25th August

Over two weeks of literary celebration in the heart of Edinburgh City. Enjoy author talks and signings, discounted books, and second-hand swaps within the fairytale backdrop of Edinburgh. Drop in and out of the sessions that interest you with individual ticketed events and use your trip to catch up on your ‘TBR’ pile.

Cromer Carnival

17th – 24th August

Cromer Carnival started as a week-long village fair in the 1200s and has since become the extravaganza it is today. There will be horse shows, retro car shows, local bands, a beauty pageant and with local ales and craft beers on tap you’ll be guaranteed a grand time.

Between the Trees Festival

22nd – 25th August

Take a break in the Welsh countryside near Merthyr Mawr, with Between the Trees festival. This summer weekend is all about nature, philosophy, science, and wellness, great for anyone looking for a festival turned summer camp. Listen to a talk whilst wandering through the woods or get hands on with a traditional woodland skills workshop.

The Big Feastival

23rd – 25th August

The Big Feastival is back with a huge line up to suit any foodie’s dream! Watch demos by celeb chefs, local butchers and fishmongers as well as craft beer brewers (plenty of tasters too!) nestled in a Cotswold farm. Take on the August bank holiday weekend with good food, entertainment, top-tier vibes! A greet weekend, party vibes and family friendly.

Bournemouth Air Festival

29th – 31st August

The beautiful sandy beach at Bournemouth is the best place to watch daring aeronautical acrobatics from the RAF and independent pilots. Watch the daring wing walkers, The Firebird dusk display with bright lights and sizzling fireworks at one of the UK’s top air show weekends. Go by train to avoid traffic and parking issues, Bournemouth gets rammed during the summer months.
