The Official Peaky Blinders Tour Of Liverpool

Tour Liverpool, by order of the Peaky Blinders. On this tour, you’ll see more than 10 filming locations, including the Garrison location, the Epsom racecourse and Polly and Ada’s homes.

So you thought Peaky Blinders was set in Birmingham? Think again. Liverpool’s Victorian Industrial architecture was chosen as the perfect backdrop for the exploits of the Shelby family – many of the show’s most famous scenes were filmed right here by the Mersey.

The pool of life

Liverpool or the “pool of life” is a city pulsing with energy and people from all walks of life. It has had a rebirth as an arts and culture bedrock in the northwest, but once upon a time it had its very own Peaky Blinders: a ruthless gang known as the High Rip ruled the streets of Liverpool. You’ll learn all about them on this tour and come to understand why the Grade Listed buildings, Victorian docks and canal system were chosen to bring Tommy’s story to life.

Don’t f*** with the Peaky Blinders

Your guide doesn’t deviate from the facts of the award-winning show. Suited and booted in Tommy’s Shelby’s distinctive style, down to his tweed flat cap, he knows his stuff. You’ll hop aboard the coach outside St George’s Hall in central Liverpool – if you’re a true fan you’ll spot that the hall doubled as a party venue in the third series – before being driven around the city and across the Mersey to the Wirral.

City centre filming locations

You’ll see where Tommy was brutally beaten by Father Hughes’ henchmen and the place where Grace confronted Inspector Campbell. You’ll also visit the largest cathedral in Britain, Liverpool Cathedral, where Catholic (though let’s face it, not practising) Thomas Shelby would go for moments of peace (and where he met Jack Nelson in Season 2).

Over the Mersey

You cross the River Mersey to Seacombe Ferry Terminal, which was transported back to the 1920s with vintage flags and boarding signs for the scene where Vicente Changretta was captured on his attempted escape to America, before being executed. Another Wirral location that you’ll recognise is in pretty Port Sunlight – the lofty village home gifted to Polly Shelby by the Shelby brothers.

After a photo op of the Liverpool skyline you’ll return to the city with a healthy respect for the criminal underworld of the 1920s, and for the filming scouts who travelled the length and breadth of Britain to find the most atmospheric Shelby locations.
