Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples, it’s a celebration of love in all its forms.
Valentine’s Day is a wonderful time to celebrate your partner or spouse. It’s also a great time to celebrate your friends, with Galentines and Palentines day. But the origins of Valentine’s Day aren’t so specific, it was originally a celebration of love and affection, in all its forms. So, this year, how about celebrating love for the most important person in your life. Yourself!
As they say, it’s impossible to love someone until you love yourself, so why not indulge in a spot of self-care and self-love this Valentine’s Day and celebrate ‘you’ for once!
This Valentine’s Day I’ll be gifting myself a magical day filled with all the things I love to do. The lovely gifts and experiences which I would normally give to a partner, I’m going to gift to myself.
Here’s a list of suggestions for the perfect day of self-love:
Morning meditation Start the day at peace, with a beautiful meditation in your own calm space. Apps and YouTube channels which help me to meditate are the Calm app or Headspace app.
I also love doing the morning yoga workouts on the Boho Beautiful You Tube Channel. They inspire wanderlust by filming sessions in beautiful paradise locations. There are hundreds to pick from, you can just pick the best one for you. And you can pick your own inspiring locations, grab a mat or blanket and head to your favourite local park.
Go for a walk Take a romantic walk for one, in your favourite place. I live in London, so I love walking along the River Thames, or if I’m missing nature I head to Richmond Park. Grab a coffee or chai latte and take in the view.
Get mindful and creative I love art! So, one of my favourite things to do would be painting and getting creative. At Masterpeace London you can book in for art classes and get creative for a few hours. From mindful mixed media workshops, guided painting classes to candle making, they have all kinds of classes for every level of artist from beginner to advanced. And especially for Valentine’s or Galentines Day they have a red roses in watercolours class and a special red rose and champagne fragrance candle making. Check out https://www.masterpeace.studio for more details.
Posh Lunch for one There’s something very lovely about eating in a restaurant by yourself. Despite what people might say, eating alone in a restaurant is actually, very peaceful and empowering. Having solo travelled for a long time, it’s something I’m very comfortable with these days. But if you’re a bit nervous, I recommend taking a book with you, so you can always escape if you feel uncomfortable.
Book yourself in to your favourite posh restaurant and have the pleasure of ordering whatever you fancy, choose a window seat, and watch the world go by. Try it! It’s liberating.
Afternoon of healing Spend the afternoon healing your soul. I recommend attending the Tarot Reading + Energy Healing Sessions with Tor Njamo at Re:mind Studio on the 12th of Feb at 7 PM.
He’s also hosting a Tarot Valentine’s/Galentine's event at the Montcalm East Hotel. Or if you prefer a spiritual one-to-one session with him head to https://esotericstudiesinstitute.com/ for more details.
Say it with flowers I’ll be buying myself a beautiful big bouquet of flowers from my favourite local florist. Followed by a chill out night in my pjs, with candles, watching whatever film I choose to watch on Netflix and my favourite take away delivery. The perfect self-love, self-caring Valentine’s Day.
